The Mark of Colm

  • A boar’s head with a shinbone in his mouth. According to family legend, Chief Colm MacKinnon was leading a hunting party outside Loch Scavaig. After becoming separated from the group, Colm sought shelter in a cave. While preparing his kill for supper, he was attacked by a wild boar. To save himself, he drove his shank of venison into the boar’s mouth, killing it, and thus preserving his life.
